Journal Entry:
Journal Entry: Dale, Judy, Dough, Morgan, Jim, Joan, Jamie, Colby and Tanner hopped on board for a family Christmas Adventure. They boarded the Tiki in St. Thomas and after a day of surf we pulled anchor and headed for the BVIs. After checking in to Customs at Sopers Hole, Tortolla and touring the colorful waterfront, we headed off to explore the rest of the British Virgin Islands. In Virgin Gorda everyone enjoyed exploring the Baths, a Geological wonder. Its an experience like no other. We next stopped at Savannah Bay where Captain Stormy taught them a resort dive. The 80 degree crystal blue water and pure white sand made for a perfect learning experience, they were hooked. Next we went on to snorkel the caves at Normans Cay where we were surrounded my thousands of small reef fish. Being a Sanctuary, the fish are as curious of you as you are of them. It made a perfect setting for some underwater photography. Of course we had to pay a visit to Willy T's that evening , the floating boat bar that you arrive to by skiff. You gotta see it to believe it. A good time was had by all! On Christmas Eve we had a great dinner and retired early so that Santa Claus could make his rounds. After another day of snorkeling and cruising we finally made time to open our little treasures. Thats all we needed to start the party. Judy had prepared goodie bags of party attire. After an incredible Christmas feast, we turned up the music, put on our dancing shoes (flip flops) and headed for the party deck. It was a night to remember in the Caribbean. It was a perfect Christmas Charter and everyone agreed they can't wait to do it again! First Mate:Bev

All Over The US & British Virgin Islands

Conditions: CHEST TO SHOULDER WITH AIR AND WATER TEMP AROUND 80. EPIC DIVING EVERY DIVE!

Journal Entry:
This is a follow up from the previous update. This charter we had the pleasure of having some really great guests aboard. Nick, Ian & Ryan Weigner, Ians girlfriend Anne-Lauren (Annie) Graham, Elia Pertsou and his girlfriend Aubrey Ludford and Tom Trilla. Kerry, who is Captain Stormys brother, flew in to give a hand cooking and having an epic time. We took everyone for a dive off St. Thomas on one of our secret wrecks thats in 80 feet of water. We were going to spearfish and look for lobsters but ended up running into an eight foot Bullshark! Nick and Ryan were about to swim through a part of the wreck that had fallen over when from the other side of the swim through the bullshark came in and swam straight at us! Nicks BCD was hung up on a part of the wreck when he tried to back out so he ended up punching the shark in the nose with his left hand and hit it in the gills with his flashlight with his right hand! The shark turned and swam away super pissed. We later found the shark wedged in part of the wreck recouping from the blows. After that we were all pretty low on air from all the excitement and ascended to safety. Did I mention that I happened to be filming the whole time this happened. I filmed up to the point were the shark was about 10 feet from me and got out of there. Great video footage of the shark! We then went for a conch dive and scored our limit of 24 conchs to stock us up with some more fresh food for the trip. We departed around 5 am from St. Thomas and checked in with Customs on Tortola. We then went for a dive on the Wreck of the Rhone, which is in about 80 feet of water and is considered one of the most famous dives in the British Virgin Islands. We swam all through the wreck and found a 300 pound jewfish chilling out. We also got to see a turtle inside the wreck eating. I filmed this dive also and got some epic footage. Actually I filmed every dive and logged 6 hours of underwater footage that is absolutely spectacular. I am making a video of the whole adventure. We then snorkeled the caves on Norman Island and got surrounded by fish and got some great pics. We dove the Indian and found some great swim throughs and saw a huge spotted eagle ray and a nurse shark. We then dove Ring Dove Rock in the middle between Norman Island and the Indian. We saw a turtle and a million fish and possibly the most different kinds of plant life I have ever seen in one place. We went to Willy Ts that evening and it was going of like I have never seen before. There were around 150 people there going nuts! There were some instances were you definitely didnt want a child to see. They are famous for people jumping off of the boat bar nude! We made it until 11:30 and retreated back to the boat before everyone became too intoxicated, or maybe there were a few people that it was already to late for. For some reason most of the people on board woke up with headaches. I think a drunk front came through or something, haha I am going to continue with the rest of the captains journal from this trip on the next update so stay tuned because this trip only gets better and better. This trip rocked! I will be updating more pics and verbage in the next couple of days. Captain Drex

ALL OVER THE US AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS!

Conditions: CHEST TO SHOULDER WITH AIR AND WATER TEMP AROUND 80. EPIC DIVING EVERY DIVE!

Journal Entry:
This charter we had the pleasure of having some really great guests aboard. Ian and Ryan are two of my friends from Ocean City, Maryland. The list of our guests included: Nick, Ian & Ryan Weigner, Ians girlfriend Anne-Lauren Graham, Elia Pertsou and his girlfriend Aubrey Ludford and Tom Trilla. Kerry, who is Captain Stormys brother, flew in to give a hand cooking and having an epic time. Im not sure who had more fun, the crew or the guests aboard! I would have to say it was about equal. We started the trip out in St. Thomas and Ian, Ryan and Tom flew in 2 days early so that Ian and Ryan could get certified by a good friend of ours Vince Lauro. Vince also was Stormy and Is dive instructor who helped us obtain our Dive Master Certificate. He is the man if you want to get a certification. Elia, Nick and Anne flew in on Wednesday. We dove the two shallow Navy barges for Ian and Ryans 1st and 2nd certification dive and for their 3rd and 4th dive we dove the Super Market Reef off of Water Island and the Kennedy barge. We shot a couple of fish in the mix and had an awesome fish dinner. We also surfed Sprat the first two evenings. I then took everyone diving on the secret barge that is just loaded with fish to shoot and even a few lobsters to snare. Stormy took Elia and Kerry to Water Island and gave them a refresher course on diving. Basically they learned the 20 skills you need to know to get certified. On our secret barge dive I snared 2 nice lobsters and shot 2 fish and Tommy, Ryan and Ian shot a couple of fish also. Gotta have something fresh for dinners! That evening everyone went for a surfing at Sprat again, which is a fun right hand point reef break that usually has no one out. We scored some fun waves in the chest high range. Elia Tom and Anne were all learning to surf so it was good to have some smaller surf to work with. Also, you cant deny the crystal clear unusually warm waters of the Caribbean! We all went out on the town in Havensight, St. Thomas for a few drinks each night and had some interesting evenings to say the least! I am going to continue with the rest of the captains journal from this trip on the next update so stay tuned because this trip only gets better and better. This trip rocked! I will be updating more pics and verbage in the next couple of days. Captain Drex

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Conditions: Head high with some bigger sets. Great Diving and Bottom Fishing. Air temp around 80, water temp 79 degrees

Journal Entry:
Our charter was a father and son adventure. Mike and Ryan Mcguire and Pete and Jake Howe. They flew into St. Thomas and we picked them up in Lindberg Bay on the beach. Our guests always love getting picked up on the beach with our skiff and taken to the Tiki. It beats the standard procedure of catching a cab. When we get to the Tiki, the first thing everyone wants to do is get in the water. Jake who is 12 and Ryan who is 13 decided that they were going to immediately abandon ship. We all took turns jumping off of various levels of the Tiki. That evening we cooked up a mean lobster pasta, which my dad and I snared the day before. I would say that was a hit. The next morning we went surfing at Hull Bay and scored some head high surf with some overhead sets. The angle was right for Hull and the waves had some juice to them, probably the best I have ever surfed Hull Bay. Unfortunately we didn't get many pics of that session. Jake and Ryan 1st paddled out on bodyboards and then Mike and Ryan took turns trying out my mom's funshape surfboard. Everyone also did a little snorkeling. We spent the majority of the day at Hull Bay. The next morning we took them out to the south drop to bottom fish for Red Hinds and Trigger Fish. We ended up catching 38 fish in total, which I would say was a great day of fishing. We wrapped up the day by anchoring off of St. Johns and spending the night there. The next morning Stormy and I taught everyone the 20 skills they teach you to become a certified diver and took them for a shallow dive off of Caneel Bay. We went to land after the dive and had Happy Hour at Woody's. We went to the Front Yard next where Jake and Ryan played a few games of pool. We opted to go back to St. Thomas the next morning so that we could take them on a dive off of the west side of the island. We started out in about 20 feet and worked our way of the edge to around 68 feet. Unfortunately Pete had some problems with his ears, so he snorkeled while the rest off us completed our dive. Everyone did excellent and I think that Mike, Jake and Ryan found a new hobby. The next day we took them for a wreck dive on The Kennedy, which is one of the Navy Barges. It is in about 55 feet of water. Bev took her waterhousing and got some great pics. I took my video camera with its housing and filmed the dive, which turned out great. I shot a 3 lb. gray snapper to stoke Jake and Ryan out. We saw some lobsters, but they were too far back in the wreck to reach with our snares. That evening Mike treated us to a dinner at Hook, Line & Sinker, which has great good. Thanks Mike! The next morning before everyone flew out Pete treated us do breakfast at Crown Bay, which was also excellent. I can safely say that everyone had an epic trip. I don't think you can ask for a much better father and son Adventures. We look forward to their next Tiki Adventure. Thanks for being great guests! Captain Drex

Conditions: Overhead with double overhead sets and FIRING! Air Temp in the 80's, Water Temp around 80.

Journal Entry:
Collin, Laurel, Kitty, and Tim got to score an epic swell with us in the BVI's. Before the swell we hung out in St. Thomas and taught Kitty and Laurel how to dive. After teaching them the 20 skills we dove Flat Key and then dove one our secret wreck dives loaded with snappers, which we shot 9 for dinner. We then showed them our endless conch dive where Laurel got to score her own dinner. We had an epic cracked conch and snapper dinner and some conch ceviche for lunch. After stocking up on food we headed to the BVI's. Of course no trip would be complete without hitting Willy T's, the floating boat bar so we went their for an early evening Happy Hour after we snorkeled the caves and were surrounded by fish. For New Years we went to Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke and partied like rockstars until the wee hours of the morning. My buddy that I met in Kauai, Tim came over and met up with us to celebrate the New Year and score some surf also. He is from St. Johns, but is currently living full time in Kauai, Hawaii. We scored Apple Bay super fun as well. We couldn't have had a better time, the Virgin Islands once again came through and gave everyone an epic trip of a lifetime! When the swell came the sets were a solid double overhead and some waves peeled for 300 yards or more at Cane Garden. Tim and I surfed a secret wave that was the heaviest I have surfed in the Virgin Islands. We needed bigger boards, but still made a few with big smiles on our faces. I will be updating a bunch more soon with tons of sick surf pics. Captain Drex

Sam, Beth and Sandy Deeley were our guests for an epic Christmas charter. My brother Collin flew in the day after the Deeley's arrived. We picked them up in St. Thomas and headed to Tortolla. We surfed a fading swell at Apple Bay and then went to Norman Cay the next day to snorkel the caves. We were surrounded by tons of fish and got some sweet pics. Of course we had to pay a short visit to Willy T's, the floating boat bar that you have to get to by skiff. Our next stop was Savannah Bay on Virgin Gorda where we all went for a dive. We decided to have a Christmas dinner at The Bitter End, which turned out to be phenomenal! Thanks Sandy! We awoke early the next morning and hauled anchor and steamed to our secret reef break, which was firing once again. The surf started out in the chest high range and by the end of the first evening we were blessed with foot overhead sets that peeled for 200-300 yards! We all scored some epic waves and couldn't have asked for a better Christmas eve. We had a great dinner that evening and passed out early so that Santa Claus could make his rounds. The next morning we opened our presents and then went for a surf. The surf had come up to 6-8 foot with solid 10 foot faces on set! We surfed there in the morning and then opted to go back to Tortolla for an evening session at Apple Bay, which was a foot overhead on set and really fun. The next morning we surfed Apple Bay again in the 4-7 foot range and super rippable. We got some great pictures of the session and surfed for over 3 hours. We dropped the Deeley's off on Tortolla, where they met up with some of their family to finish of their vacation. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect Christmas Charter! Everyone had an epic time and we can't wait to do it again!

Not to many places can you still find an empty line up with offshore winds, 6-9 foot faces and 200+ yard rides. Needless to say everyone on the charter, including myself was stoked! I have plenty more pictures I will be updating from this charter. Check back soon. Captain Drex

Let me start by saying this was an epic charter! Our guests were Deeley, Nick, Brian, Greg, Brendan, Andy & Kevin. We started out fishing the South Drop off of St. Thomas while we waited for the swell to fill in. We then went to Norman Island and dove and snorkeled the Indian. We went to Willy Ts for a crazy time. The next morning we surfed Apple Bay on a filling swell and then surfed Cootens all to ourselves and finished the day off surfing Cane Garden. We hauled anchor early the next morning and took our guests to a secret spot that cant be disclosed. Needless to say it was firing. We stayed there for a day and a half and scored 6-9 foot faces that peeled for 200 yards or more. We then all went and snorkeled a wreck with large fish all around. We stopped at Jost Van Dyke and went to Foxys and had a few drinks, or may I say some had a few too many. We then went to Culebra and did some fishing and snorkeling. We also hiked up to the lighthouse on the hill on Culebrita, which had a phenomenal view. After that we trolled back to St. Thomas and Deeley caught a nice King Mackerel. We bid our goodbyes the next morning after a quick fishing adventure and cant wait to do it all over again! I will have some more web updates on this charter coming very soon. Captain Drex

Navy Barges St. Thomas & Botany Bay

Conditions: Great lobstering/spearfishing and fun head high surf. Air and water temp around 80.

Journal Entry:
Collin, Jimmy, Stormy, Bev and I made a dive on the Navy Barges and scored big time. We snared 7 lobsters and I shot a gray snapper. We grilled the catch for the day on the back deck and had a feast! The next morning Collin, Dad and I went to Botany Bay for a surf and caught some really fun head high surf. Botany is a sick right hand reef point break that you can get 3 to 5 turns on and with a little more size there is some nice barrel sections. Captain Drex

South Drop St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Conditions: Great Diving! Air in the Mid 80's, Water in the Upper 70's. Depth 65 feet - the abyss (3,000 feet).

Journal Entry:
We had nine guests aboard for this diving/fishing charter: Jimmy, Stacy, Ashley, Vince, Kim, Bethany, Paul, Liz and Oren. Our destination was the South Drop of St. Thomas were their is a portion of the reef that comes up from 200 feet to 65 feet and then drops back off to 3,000 feet. Jimmy put together this charter and has been waiting for quite some time to dive this area. The depth of the area that we dove renged between 65-120 feet. Within a hundred yards or so there was a drop-off that went as deep as 3,000 feet. The diving was excellent and Jimmy scored the only lobster. I had a great opportunity to shoot a 15 lb. snapper, but I was too low on air. We did three dives throughout the day and between dives we bottom fished. We ended up catching 20 plus Rock Hinds, which we had for dinner. Captain Drex

Cane Garden Bay was on fire! The bigger sets were pushing double overhead and reeling down the reef for 200 yards, maybe longer. You could get a nasty barrel on the take off if you sat deep and then do several turns with an occasional cover up in the mix. We surfed for 4 hours straight and then went back to the Tiki XIV for lunch. We hauled anchor and went to Apple Bay for an evening session that was just a bit smaller than Cane was and really rippable. Captain Drex

We surfed for 4 hours straight and then went back to the Tiki XIV for lunch. We hauled anchor and went to Apple Bay for an evening session that was just a bit smaller than Cane was and really rippable. Captain Drex

Conditions: Great Diving! Air in the lower 80's, Water temp around 80.

Journal Entry:
This was a random spot that we chose to dive. It turned out to be absolutely great. We saw everything you could hope to see. The depth ranged between 15-55 feet of water. I can't disclose where it was so we can keep it as our little secret. I will tell you that it was in the British Virgin Islands and that it wasn't very far off shore. We look forward to exploring more unknown areas. We haven't had a bad dive yet. Captain Drex

Conditions: Head high with 2 foot overhead sets. Really fun and rippable. Air temp. in the mid 80's. Water temp. around 80.

Journal Entry:
We surfed Apple Bay with 6-8 foot face. The waves were really fun and rippable. The lefts were a little faster, but the rights were longer. We surfed for 4 1/2 hours until our arms couldn't paddle anymore. You can't beat the crystal clear warm waters of the Caribbean. For most of the session we had it all to ourselves. We also had a great session the next morning in the head high range. We got word from a friend that happened to be out on Anagada that the surf was double overhead and reeling down the western end. Guess we should have been there. The spearfishing pics were taken off of St. Thomas. I shot the Lane Snapper with my first shot out of my brand knew speargun. Stoked! Stormy scored the 5 lb lobster with a snare. We had a great dinner! Captain Drex

Conditions: Chest to Head and fun fast waves.

Journal Entry:
We arrived in the Virgin Islands and scored some fun surf and some epic diving. We caught a nice yellowfin tuna just before we got here and had plenty of fresh fish for the beginning of our adventures. We surfed Josiah's Bay in the chest to head high range and saw some other waves nearby that looked real fun. We did a couple of dives in the 40-50 foot range that were phenominal. Too bad we didn't bring the camera for those, but we will next time. We will keep you posted. Drex

Deep Sea Fishing Off The Coast Of Maryland. Poormans Canyon.

Conditions: We had great weather and calm seas.

Journal Entry:
Everyone had a great time on this 36 hour charter. We had a little funny business in the middle of the charter when we had one of our guests make a suprise transformation. "He" happened to spot Kristen's sundress and had to try it on. We happened to get a picture, ha ha. A blow up doll also ended up hanging off of one of the outriggers in the mist of all the fishing action. Needless to say this charter had a good time. We caught 9 yellowfin tuna, a wahoo and a mahi. Everyone was stoked! Drex

Conditions: Fishing Trip. Water and air temp in the 70's.

Journal Entry:
Tiki Adventures explored the Abaco Bahamas for the second time this year with a group of Bev and StormyÕs friends this time around. We made an epic fishing adventure out of this voyage. The crew include Captain Stormy, Captain Drex & Chef Bev. Our friends included Harry Johnson, Lex ?????????????, Barb & Tom Probert, Walt Austin, Dana and George Smith. We had a 10 day adventure filled with fishing, diving and exploring the islands. We even did a little surfing when the conditions were favorable for it. I have to say that the fishing was epic. We couldnÕt have asked for more fish than we caught. We ate fresh fish almost every night and on some occasions we would add fresh conch that we would dive up. We explored Man O War Cay, Lanyard Cay and Green Turtle Cay along with a few others?????. We scored everytime we fished. We would take the 17ft. skiff and go bottom fishing and take the Tiki XIV trolling. It didnÕt matter what we did we always seemed to catch a bunch of fish. The groupers were as thick as you could imagine and everyone bowed up and caught as many as they could have wanted. It turned into a game of who would catch the biggest fish for the day. Definately a trip that won't soon be forgotten. Captain Drex

ABACO BAHAMAS

Conditions: SHOULDER HIGH AND FUN. WATER TEMPERATURE IN THE LOW 70'S. AIR TEMPERATURE IN THE 70'S.

Journal Entry:
Tiki Adventures explored the Abaco Bahamas for a 10 day adventure with family and friends. Captain Stormy and Bev's youngest son, Collin Harrington brought nine of his friends along for this epic adventure. It just so happens that Collin and his friends happen to wakeboard really well. The guests included: Parks Bonifay, Shane Bonifay, Shawn Watson, Danny Harf, Eric Ruck, Chad Sharpe, Keith Kipp, Matt Staker and Tony Smith. We towed a 24 foot Master Craft behind the Tiki XIV so that we could have a stylish runabout and a great boat to wakeboard behind. We also brought 2 Waverunners so that we could do tow-ins surfing and wakeboarding. Luckily we had a calm crossing from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas. We cleared customs and explored Man O War Cay and Elbow Cay for the next couple of days. We then went to Lanyard Cay and explored the islands around it for the rest of the trip. We found a fun left point reef break that broke off of a little island. The wave was in the shoulder high range and you could get 2 or 3 turns on it and sometimes a cover up. We named it Fire Pits or Tiki Point, which ever name you prefer. During our adventure we were either surfing, wakeboarding, fishing, spear fishing or snorkeling. The fishing and snorkeling in the bahamas is phenominal! Everyone was able to utilize their pole spears and fishing poles. We ate fresh fish, lobster and conch almost every night. It really was a trip to remember. Captain Drex

BACKWASH BAY

Conditions: 6-8 FOOT FACES WITH OFF SHORE WINDS PEELING FOR 100 YARDS AND SUPER RIPPABLE

Journal Entry:
Tiki Adventures surfed head high surf with 2 foot overhead sets for one of their last sessions in Costa Rica. There was some larger sets about twice an hour. The right hander was firing and peeling for 100 yards and was super rippable. There were no pictures for the next session, but Pan Dulce was peeling right for 100-200 yards and was super rippable. The Tiki left Costa Rica the next day to explore Panama and the Panama Canal. We headed back home to Ocean City, Maryland to do Fishing and Cruising tours for the summer season. I will be updating the website every two weeks with back-logged pictures from the year in Costa Rica. I have plenty of pictures. We are looking for 6-8 people to help offset expenses and have an adventure of a life time on our voyage from Ocean City, Maryland back to Costa Rica. We are going to go through the Bahama passage this year and stop in Jamaica and then stop on San Andres Island. We will then traverse the Panama Canal and explore the Pacific coast and the islands off of Panama. We will let our guests off in Herradura Bay located in central Costa Rica. Call us for more information at (410) 213-2151. This will truly be an excellent edventure.

Cabo Matapalo6-8 foot faces breaking over some shallow rocks in certain places with good conditions

Conditions: 6-8 foot faces breaking over some shallow rocks in certain places with good conditions Water temp mid 70’s Air temp mid 80’s

Journal Entry:
Everybody including the Tiki Crew caught some fun waves at Matapalo. Our friend Dave Morse had an unfortunate experience and had to sit three sessions out due to a collision with a inside rock at Matapalo. Fortunately, he was able to catch some of the best waves of his trip after the injury in the same session. Unfortunately, I was not there with the camera. I shot some footage from the water with my underwater housing for the first session and then the second session I swam in and videoed from the beach. We spent the evening in Golfito to get out of the swell and get a good night sleep and then went back and surfed Matapalo at daybreak the next morning.

Playa Escondita Reef Break

Conditions: 6-8 foot faces, fun, glassy and uncrowded Water temp mid 70’s Air temp lower 80’s

Journal Entry:
The Tiki Crew and friends scored some fun uncrowded surf at the reef at Playa Escondita. It was most of the guys first time at the reef and they all had some sick waves. We were in the water at 5:30 am and avoided the crowd and surfed mid to high tide, which is ideal for the reef break. We hauled anchor and headed to Hermosa for an early afternoon session. We surfed Corners 6-10 foot faces and bombing. There were some really fun waves to be had, but everyone paid the price paddling back out. After that we headed south and steamed the rest of the day and through the night until we reached Cabo Matapalo, which will be the next update. These pics will hold you over until then. Sorry for the delayed pics, but our internet service has been out on our vessel. We scored Cabo Matapalo with solid 6-8 foot faces. We surfed there for 2 sessions. I got some water footage with my underwater housing the 1st session and then filmed the 2nd session from the beach. I will have some good pics from those sessions in the near future. After Matapalo we headed to Punta Burica and surfed some fun head high surf with overhead sets. There were plenty of 100-200 yard rides to be had if you worked it and connected all the way through. It was a little slow in some sections, but others you had to race. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The lineup was empty besides the Tiki Adventures crew and friends. After Punta Burica we headed to Corcovado and surfed 6-8 foot faces that were a little mushy, but if you waited for the sets you could get 75-100 yard long rides on the beach break. You had to work through some sections, but there were some fun sections to rip some good turns on. Once again the line up was empty except us. The luxury of exploring Costa Rica by boat is avoiding the crowds and accessing waves inaccessible by car. We traveled to Drakes Bay after our Corcovado am session to do some sight seeing by skiff in the local tributaries. Our next stop is Dominical in the am on Sunday. I will keep you posted. For know here are the other pics that I was unable to update last update due to our Internet service failure. Captain Drex

Journal Entry:
The reef at Playa Escondita has been on fire! The south /west swells have been showing their presents with some fury. Their has been south swell after south swell this past month and we have had some unreal waves. Many overhead days with some solid double overhead days mixed in to add to the excitement. Their are plenty of other pics of Escondita firing that will be updated in the near future. For now these will hold you over. We are also about to go down south for some more southern Costa Rica sick ones.

Conditions: 6-8 foot faces with some solid sets over a shallow reef. Rising SW Swell. Water Temp in the upper 70’s. Air Temp in the mid 80’s

Journal Entry:
This is the beggining of the SW Easter Week swell. There was some insane tubes and fast powerful walls to blast. The Tiki Crew and some of the best locals in the area were out ripping. The reef was putting on a great display with the beggining of a new swell. There will be some more updates in the near future of the rest of this swell when it filled in! There were some sick ones to be had. Also the Quiksilver/Terraza skins contest will be coming up with some photos of what went down.

PUNTA BURICA ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!

PUNTA BURICA ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conditions: Double overhead with some bigger sets! It was reeling down the reef for 200-300 yards. Flawless perfection until 11 am for 2 days in a row. Beautiful picturesque scenery with the air temp in the upper 80's and the water temp in the upper 70's.

Journal Entry:
We left Pavones with a dropping swell only to show up at Punta Burica to surf one of the best left hand point reef breaks that I have seen in Costa Rica. It blew Pavones away and was only accessible by boat with absolutely no one in the line up except for the Tiki crew and friends!!! We never even saw another surfer for the two days we were there. Furthermore, let me tell you that we surfed the second left point out of four points in a row. The one we surfed was smaller than the outer left point break witch had 15 foot faces on set with occasional bigger sets. It was SICK!! This was the wave I have been waiting to surf since we came to Costa Rica this year and it was everything I had hoped for and then some! What are you waiting for get your quiver together and quit procrastinating and come join us for an adventure of a Lifetime! Sorry it took so long to update these pics, but we are using a relatively new technology called Bluetooth and it only works sometimes on our boat. At least I am able to do website update from our vessel. Our next swell is hitting tomorrow so we will have plenty more good surf pics for show coming up! CAPTAIN DREX

Journal Entry:
Pavones was on fire! The waves were 2 foot overhead on the sets and you could make the second section if you pumped real hard. The 3rd and 4th section was also breaking, but you couldn't make it that far from the peak. High performance waves that went forever! Loads of ripping and a great time had by all. P.S. Here is another sneak peak of Punta Burica. The rest of the pics from Punta Burica will be on the next update in 2 or 3 days, until then enjoy the Pavones Pics. Currently we have been stationed in Herradura Bay surfing the reef breaks nearby such as Playa Escondita and Little Fiji. Escondita has been consistently head high with overhead sets and really fun. I surfed Playa Hermosa this morning 4/6/04 with 6-8 foot faces and glassy fun conditions. Plenty more waves on the way. Don't wait any longer, come to Costa Rica and score some sick ones with the Tiki Crew!!! Captain Drex

We were waiting for a solid south swell to hit later in the week and warmed up on the head high playful surf to prepare for the macking session to come! Here is a sneak peak at 2 of the photos we have for the epic surf we scored on the big south swell at Punta Burica.

MANZANILLO OUTER REEF BREAK

Conditions: 2-3 FT. CHEST TO HEAD HIGH SETS AIR TEMP IN THE MID 80'S WATER TEMP IN THE MID 70'S

Journal Entry:
The Tiki Crew and friends surfed Camaronal in the am and then headed south in search of a new wave. Drex, Maite, Paul, Niki, Kurt and Steffanie went on a search for a new wave. We saw this outer reef working better than the other waves in the area and decide to give it a go. The tide was ultra low and there were alot of boils to watch out for, but there were some fun bowl's to be had and it was a great way to end the day. After the session we headed south. Next stop Herradura Bay in hopes of scorig Little Fiji and Playa Escondita.
